Middle School can be an exciting time: students have increased challenges, meet many new peers, and are exposed to a variety of teaching styles. Bodies change, emotions change, and our cognitive capacities change. Along with the positives, middle school can be a challenging time for a lot of students. While transitions open us up potentially to great things, many students struggle with navigating these transitions. At a time when social relationships become extremely important in formation of self-identity, uncomfortable or negative interactions with peers can be devastating. So what’s a girl to do?
Rocky Mountain Center for Development is very excited to offer our new middle school girls’ therapy group: Girl Power. Girl Power helps girls to handle stressors and celebrate their unique selves! The 8 week group focuses on building self-confidence, improving communication, exploring body image, and developing positive peer relationships. Through engaging games, activities, and creative expression, girls will gain valuable life skills to help them move through the teen years.
